We are an evangelical, Baptist church in Cornelius, North Carolina. We are united first by our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but also around a common confession of faith and mission to proclaim the gospel of Jesus to our community. The Sunday morning worship gathering is the starting point, but there are lots of ways that we go about building relationships, growing in our faith, and impacting our community. Through various Bible studies, fellowship events, and outreach opportunities, we seek to glorify God and take the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.
Peter characterized Christians as spiritual exiles, meaning that we are strangers in this world, serving a different King and representing another kingdom. Such an existence, obviously, comes with a range of hardships, which Peter addresses throughout the letter. Still, the purpose of his writing is to show Christians that they can do much more than merely survive this time of exile. By God’s grace, we can truly thrive in it!
